2001’ BH Score: 93 /Tasted: Oct 15, 2013 /Drink: Now+
Tasting note: (with thanks to Dr. Reed Day and opened from personal storage). A mature though still attractively fresh and elegant nose offers up notes of spice, mature and notably earthy fruit, smoke and a hint of game that is framed in just enough wood to notice. There is an abundant minerality to the delicious, round and intense medium-bodied flavors that retain a fine sense of detail on the dusty finish that delivers excellent length. For my taste this has arrived at its peak though it should hold here for many years. Tasted several times with consistent notes.
2014’ BH Score: 94 /Tasted: Jan 15, 2017 /Drink: 2029+ / Issue: 65

Tasting note: A completely different aromatic profile is present here with its notably more elegant and expressive nose of various floral elements that include lavender and rose petal along with various spice and red berry fruit scents. There is a terrific sense of underlying tension to the precise, racy and focused middle weight flavors that are notably finer than those of the Clos de la Roche but at the cost of being notably less powerful. I very much like the superb persistence and fine balance and even though the tannins are quite fine they are also notably dense and as such this too is absolutely going to require plenty of patience.
2016’ BH Score: 95 /Tasted: Jan 10, 2019 / Drink: 2034+/Issue: 73

Tasting note: In the same fashion as the Echézeaux the whole cluster vinification is evident with the notably prominent spice and floral elements that add breadth to the cool and ultra-pure aromas of red currant, cherry and discreet wood nuances. The delicious and strikingly refined medium weight flavors possess flat-out great intensity on the saline and hugely long finish. This is a CSD of focused power and refinement.
2018’ BH Score: 95 /Tasted: Jan 10, 2021 /Drink: 2038+ /Issue: 81

Tasting note: This is actually quite aromatically similar to the Clos de la Roche but a touch more elegant with its greater emphasis on spice and floral influences. There is excellent volume to the seductively textured, fleshy and succulent medium weight flavors that firm up immediately on the super-sleek and refined finish. This needs to develop more depth but there is so much underlying material, and the structure to complement it, that it should gradually develop. Like the Clos de la Roche, the tannins are very prominent, so patience is once again strongly suggested.
