試飲評論 2001 Vosne-Romanée
BH Score: 86-88 /Tasted: Apr 01, 2003 /Drink: 2008-12 /Issue: 10
Tasting note: Open, expressive and subtle with understated spice and black fruit notes followed by round, supple, delicious and nicely complex flavors plus a touch of finishing astringency that will probably round out with a few years of bottle age. This is really very elegant and delivers fine quality at this level.

2002 Echézeaux Grand Cru
BH Score: 91-94 / Tasted: Apr 01, 2004 /Drink: 2010-20 / Issue: 14
Note: 1.5 barrels from vines planted in ’45 aged in 1/3 new wood
Tasting note: Also very reserved and a touch austere with incredibly spicy and pure black fruit aromas that merge into dense, moderately robust, decidedly old style burgundy flavors of simply stupendous complexity. This is a very powerful wine yet it is also exquisitely well balanced and finishes with mouth coating sap and solid, indeed quite firm structure. A knock out effort that will age effortlessly for years.

2004 Echézeaux Grand Cru
BH Score: 89-92 /Tasted: Apr 01, 2006 /Drink: 2009+ /Issue: 22
Tasting note: A wonderfully spicy black pinot fruit nose is framed by a background touch of wood and gives way to deep and complex flavors that are impressively rich, sweet and intense yet retain a fine sense of detail on the long, mouth coating and powerful finish. This is not a huge wine but it is unusually refined by the typical standards of the appellation and should drink well young but repay admirably mid-term cellar time.

2005 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru
BH Score: 92-94 /Tasted: Apr 01, 2007 /Drink: 2015+ / Issue: 26 / ♥ Don’t miss!
Tasting note: An unusually expressive nose for a young Clos de Vougeot mixes upper and lower register ripe fruit, earth, spice and subtle sauvage hints that dissolve into rich, full and serious but not particularly austere flavors that culminate in a hugely long, dusty and driving finish. There is real energy here and better still, it’s focused and like the Ech, sufficiently firmly structured that a decade or more slumber in the cellar will be required.

2006 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru
BH Score: 89-91 / Tasted: Apr 01, 2008 / Drink: 2014+ / Issue: 30
Tasting note: This too is quite expressive, indeed particularly so for a young Clos de Vougeot, offering up earthy and slightly sauvage red and dark berry fruit aromas that complement perfectly the delicious, intense, serious and moderately structured medium full flavors that finish with both excellent persistence and the classic youthful austerity. I particularly like the purity here.

2006 Vosne-Romanée - Vieilles Vignes
BH Score: 86-88 /Tasted: Apr 01, 2008 / Drink: 2012+ / Issue: 30
Tasting note: A spicy, pure, elegant and expressive mélange of red and black pinot fruit, earth and hints of soy and hoisin blends into delicious, cool and nicely precise flavors underpinned by moderately ripe tannins and a punchy finish that comes up at present a bit on the short side.

2007 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru
BH Score: 89-92 /Tasted: Apr 01, 2009 / Drink: 2015+ / Issue: 34
Tasting note: This is relatively elegant for a young Clos de Vougeot with an attractive mèlange of red and blue berries, earth, underbrush and a hint of the sauvage that also permeates the big, rich and serious full-bodied flavors that possess good mid-palate dry extract that buffers the otherwise firm tannins on the impressively long and youthfully austere finish where a touch of wood is also evident. A classically styled example that should age well.

2007 Volnay "Santenots" 1er Cru
BH Score: 88-91 /Tasted: Apr 01, 2009 / Drink: 2014+ / Issue: 34
Tasting note: Not surprisingly, this is much more aromatically complex with ripe blue berry, plum and violet aromas introducing delicious, naturally sweet and layered medium-bodied flavors that possess good mid-palate concentration and lovely persistence on the textured finale.

2007 Vosne-Romanée - Vieilles Vignes
BH Score: 87-89 / Tasted: Apr 01, 2009 /Drink: 2014+ / Issue: 34
Tasting note: Here the aromatic profile is completely different with a notably spicy, pure and ultra elegant dark berry fruit and earth suffused nose that complements perfectly the delicious and relatively concentrated flavors that are textured, velvety and mouth coating, all put into lovely relief by just the right amount of bright acidity. There is a slightly firmer tannic spine compared to the Chambolle but both of these are very attractive villages level wines.

2008 Chambertin Grand Cru
BH Score: 88-91 / Tasted: Apr 18, 2010 / Drink: 2016+ / Issue: 38
Tasting note: A discreet touch of wood frames very earthy and extremely fresh dark berry fruit aromas that telegraph the presence of ample minerality on the supple, round and intense medium weight plus flavors that possess so much gas that this is frankly hard to read though I like the complexity and solid length.

2008 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru
BH Score: 87-90 / Tasted: Apr 18, 2010 / Drink: 2016+ / Issue: 38
Tasting note: This blends both upper and lower register notes with high-toned red cherry and raspberry fruit mixing with earth and a hint of the sauvage, both of which continue onto the solidly complex but very gassy medium-bodied flavors where the structural elements appear to possess a slightly higher level of phenolic ripeness though there is a distinctly edgy finish here as well. This will require 8 to 10 years of cellar time.

2008 Vosne-Romanée - Vieilles Vignes
BH Score: 86-88 / Tasted: Apr 18, 2010 / Drink: 2014+ / Issue: 38
Tasting note: A lightly spiced cool red berry fruit nose introduces delicious, round and admirably pure flavors that possess a lovely sense of underlying tension, all wrapped in a finish where the structural elements also seem to be right at the limit of sufficient phenolic ripeness though again, this impression is undoubtedly exacerbated by the presence of ample amounts of carbon dioxide.

2009 Chambertin Grand Cru
BH Score: 92-94 / Tasted: May 06, 2011 / Drink: 2024+ / Issue: 42 / ♥ Don’t miss!
Tasting note: This is also troubled by enough reduction to render the nose unreadable. There is however good vibrancy to the rich, serious and big-bodied flavors that possess ample power and weight before culminating in a mineral-driven and explosive finish that delivers outstanding length. This too should be capable of rewarding long-term cellaring, indeed patience will be a necessity.

2009 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru
BH Score: 91-93 / Tasted: May 06, 2011 / Drink: 2021+ / Issue: 42
Tasting note: Reserved yet elegant and airy aromas of spice, red and blue pinot fruit plus bass notes of warm earth give way to powerful and well-muscled flavors that display excellent mid-palate density and only mild austerity on the palate staining finish. Despite the power, this is less robust than one might expect from such a young Clos de Vougeot though it should be capable of 12 to 15 years of improvement.

2009 Echézeaux Grand Cru
BH Score: 91-94 / Tasted: May 06, 2011 / Drink: 2021+ / Issue: 42
Tasting note: Relatively heavy reduction knocks down the nose though the rich, full-bodied and serious flavors possess good verve, volume and phenolic maturity as well as impressive breadth and depth on the extract-rich finish. Based on the apparent quality of the underlying material, this should be excellent in time.

2009 Chorey-lès-Beaune ♥
BH Score: 89 / Tasted: May 06, 2011/ Drink: 2013+ / Issue: 42 / ♥Sweet spot Outstanding
Tasting note: This is prettier still with ultra-pure and very fresh red pinot fruit that complements well the supple, vibrant and equally fresh flavors that are shaped by unusually fine tannins for what this is as well as very solid length. This is a beautiful Chorey and worthy of consideration as well.

2010 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru
BH Score: 91-93 /Tasted: Apr 01, 2012 /Drink: 2022+ /Issue: 46
Tasting note: Here there is a hint of the sauvage to the fresh and intensely mineral-infused red currant aromas that are trimmed is reasonably discreet wood. There is fine richness and good power to the focused, intense and energetic flavors that culminate in an explosively long finish that is shaped by distinctly firm but ripe tannins. This will also need plenty of time to arrive at its apogee.

2012 Chambolle-Musigny
BH Score: 87-89 / Tasted: Apr 15, 2014 / Drink: 2017+ / Issue: 54
Tasting note: This possesses a step up in aromatic elegance with its relatively high-toned nose of raspberry, cherry, rose petal and spiced herbal tea scents. There is a lovely sense of verve and detail to the lightly mineral-inflected flavors that possess a supple mid-palate contrasted against a moderately firm and mouth coating finish. Like many of these 2012s this should drink well young but should reward 4 to 7 years of cellar time too.

2012 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru
BH Score: 86-89? /Tasted: Apr 15, 2014 / Drink: 2018+ / Issue: 54
Note: from Mazoyères
Tasting note: This too displays herbal notes to the otherwise very fresh nose of cherry, violets, humus and again sauvage notes. The mid-palate is supple and round though the finish is lean and slightly drying because once again the supporting tannins do not seem 100% mature. On the plus side there is excellent persistence but I do wonder if this will ever fully harmonize and hence the question mark.
