2020’ BH Score: 91-94/Tasted: Jan 10, 2022 /Drink: 2035+ /Issue: 85
Note: from 3 different parcels measuring 1.36 ha, two at the bottom in Baudes Basses and another at the top in Montiotes Hautes
Tasting note: An earthier and more somber if nicely layered nose is comprised by notes of both red and dark berries along with a whisper of the sauvage along with a floral top note. The delicious and rounded medium weight flavors possess focused power that really comes up on the dusty, chalky, youthfully austere and impressively persistent finale. This built-to-age effort is going to require at least some patience as it’s quite tightly wound today.
2019’ BH Score: 92-95/Tasted: Jan 10, 2021/Drink: 2036+/Issue: 81
Note: from 3 different parcels measuring 1.36 ha, two at the bottom in Baudes Basses and another at the top in Montiotes Hautes
Tasting note: A softly spicy and markedly floral nose blends aromas of red currant, raspberry and newly turned earth. There is very good underlying energy and punch to the succulent and seductive yet powerful and concentrated broad-shouldered flavors that display a touch of warmth on the detailed, very firm, serious and austere finale. This is also potentially excellent, but this is definitely not a wine to engage in its early youth.
2018’ BH Score: 89-92 /Tasted: Jan 10, 2020 /Drink: 2033+ /Issue: 77
Note: from 3 different parcels, one at the bottom and two at the top but on opposite sides
Tasting note: A more reserved nose presents an aromatic profile that is comprised by notes of red currant, pomegranate and discreet nuances of earth and spice. The palate impression of the slightly bigger-bodied flavors is also quite sleek though the punchy, very firm and well-delineated finish is not particularly complex and there is a touch of dryness though I doubt it will last.
2017’ BH Score: 91-94’/ Tasted: Jan 10, 2019 / Drink: 2032+ / Issue: 73
Note: from 3 different parcels, one at the bottom and two at the top but on opposite sides
Tasting note: A background whiff of wood sets off the very fresh aromas of red and dark berry, earth and a hint of leather. The rich, full-bodied and very serious flavors possess solid size and weight along with excellent drive on the powerful and youthfully austere if decidedly linear finish. Like the Les Cras, this is going to require at least some aging to fill out and until that occurs this is going to be more potential than pleasure. With that said, my range implicitly assumes that it will flesh out in time.
2013’ BH Score: 91-94 / Tasted: Jan 15, 2015 / Drink: 2025+ / Issue: 57
Note: from 3 different parcels, one at the bottom and two at the top but on opposite sides
Tasting note: There is enough reduction present to push the underlying fruit to the background. By contrast there is lovely freshness to the delicious if quite virile medium weight plus flavors that possess both good power and punch, all wrapped in a moderately austere and impressively persistent finish. This should be at its best 12 to 15 years hence.
