Tasting note: A slightly more elegant but not noticeably more complex nose offers up spiced plum and dark currant scents along with attractive floral hints and in particular lavender and violet. The medium weight flavors possess a velvety and caressing mouthfeel before concluding in a sappy and dusty if mildly tangy finish. This is serious and more obviously structured and a wine that will need at least a few years of cellaring first and should ultimately reward 12 to 15.

Tasting note: A ripe and agreeably fresh nose combines notes of red currant and cherry with plum, spice and sandalwood hints. The intense and delicious middle weight plus flavors possess a seductive, even polished mouthfeel before terminating in an impressively persistent and complex finish that evidences just a hint of rusticity. In contrast to the prior wines this is going to require at least some bottle age before it will drink up to its potential.

Tasting note: The wood treatment is prominent if not dominant as the spicy aromas of cassis, anise and hoisin are able to be appreciated. There is good richness to the bigger and more powerful medium-bodied flavors that possess both good volume and punch on the lingering and mouth coating finish where the oak influence resurfaces. The supporting tannins are ripe and about only nits are a hint of backend warmth and a very slight trace of dryness that in this case seems as though it will round out. My score offers the benefit of the doubt. Note that this should be approachable young if desired.

Tasting note: Here too the expressive nose displays discreet notes of menthol along with plenty of wood and spice on the ripe aromas of assorted dark berry fruit and exotic teas. There is a beguiling texture to the round, rich and generously proportioned medium-bodied flavors that deliver very good if not truly excellent length. This highly seductive effort is too woody for me but it’s not without a certain appeal.

Tasting note: Here the wood treatment is more aggressive and it’s enough to fight with the spicy and very ripe aromas of dark berry fruit liqueur-like scents. The exceptionally rich and overtly suave full-bodied flavors are also lush to the point of opulence before terminating in a lingering finish where notes of bitter cherry and wood arise. This isn’t particularly well-detailed but like the Chaumes it is seductive.

現任莊主 Bernard Gros 幫忙經營大姑 Colette 與大伯 Gustave 共同擁有的 Domaine Gros Frère & Sœur,致力提升葡萄酒的品質,結合了傳統的釀造方式與新世代的科技設備,改善了許多黑皮諾葡萄在先天上體質的不足,進而釀造出更精緻完美的布根地佳作。

Gros Frère & Sœur 所擁有的葡萄園大多是 Vosne-Romanée 村的上上之選,常常是品酒會及拍賣會場上備受矚目的焦點。尤其是特級葡萄園的:Richebourg Grand Cru(約 0.7ha)、Grands Echezeaux Grand Cru(約 0.3ha),Echezeaux Grand Cru 與 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru "Misigni"(約 1.5ha,特級園 Musigny 旁),這些 Grand Cru 在釀造上面採用 2/3 的新橡木桶和 1/3 的一年桶培養 22-30 個月,表現出強勁又凝縮的黑醋栗、覆盆子、杏桃等多元化的水果香氣;口感上濃郁帶有烤桶香及些許香草、香料的感觸,單寧柔順討喜,是年輕時好喝,也適合陳 年的全方位型布根地。

Neal Martin (88-90) Drink: N/A $121-$190
The 2012 Echezeaux Grand Cru is more immediate on the nose following on from the Les Chaumes, with scents of raspberry, briary and rose petal that unfolds nicely in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp, slightly chalky tannins and a fine line of acidity that cuts through the toasty black fruit that seems to dominate the finish. Once the wood in subsumed this should be a decent grand cru.
