This wine exhibits a saturated ruby color with purple nuances. Additionally, it is rich, with lots of extract, tannin, and body. Ceretto’s opaque ruby/purple-colored 1996 Barolo Bricco Rocche is sensational stuff. It combines explosive levels of fruit, glycerin, and extract with an uncanny sense of elegance and finesse. There are copious quantities of black cherry fruit, intermixed with raspberries, cedar, spicy oak, licorice, and tar. This terrific, complex, multidimensional Barolo should be at its finest between 2003-2018.

Dark ruby-garnet. Very aromatic, with lots of floral, berry and spice character. Full-bodied, with a solid core of ripe fruit, supersilky tannins and a long, long finish. Massive, still needs a little more time in the bottle. One of the best ever from here.--1997 Italian blind retrospective. Best after 2009.

Wild aromas of decadent fruit, with lots of plum, fresh mushroom and fresh strawberry. Full-bodied, with ultrasilky tannins and a long finish. Wonderfully crafted. Seductive. The top label from Ceretto’s Bricco Rocche estate in Castiglione Falletto. Best after 2008. |
